Bacteriological characteristics of the lake waters in the Tuzla Canton

Abstract

This paper presents microbiological analysis in the area of Tuzla including the lakes of Panonsko (Pannonian Lake), Modrac, Površinski kop and Bistarac.
Each lake’s water samples were collected from 3 localities, and analyzed by a standard microbiological method. The results of the analysis display that in all lakes with the exception of the Panonsko Lake, fecal polluters (such as E. coli, Str. faecalis) were found in all samples. Worth mentioning is that the highest bacteria concentration per 1 ml of the sample was detected at the confluence of the Spreĉa river into the Modrac Lake, while the lowest was in the Panonsko Lake.
