Fish populations of the Požarna river
Keywords:

Ichthyofaunal research of the river Požarna was conducted during two seasons in the year 2006. The fish was caught with standard fish catching tools. On the field, the collected material was stored into 4% formaldehyde solution, and relocated in a laboratory for further analysis. Biosystematic determination of the caught fish was performed according to Vuković (15). The analysis of the total representative sample showed that the respective area was populated by the three species of fishes from the three different families. Specified were the River Trout - Salmo trutta m. fario (Linnaeus, 1758) from the Salmonidae family, Thymallus thymallus (Linnaeus, 1758) from the Thymallidae family. The Cottidae family was represented with Cottus gobio (Linnaeus, 1758). All three fish species were recorded in both sesons in the research area. Salmo trutta m. fario had the largest population size (91 or 68,42% of all caught fish). Such population size was also reflected in the contribution to the ichthyomass of 4.44 g or 78,46%.
